1) MISSION REFRESH
Do you know the mission of HASS? “HASS was formed in 2016 to encourage the love of swimming and to promote exercise through fun and healthy competition. We offer a fun-filled, summer swim team, which focuses on teaching swimming skills, and HASS partners with several local pools to offer American Red Cross Swim Lessons in the summer.”

Does that resonate with you and your goals for your family? I hope so! We have a great group on the HASS Board of Directors with some great new ideas, and a summer full of fun waiting for your swimmers!

2) 2024 REGISTRATION – SWIM TEAM
We will be offering a 10% “Early Bird” discount on registration again this year! As always, the sibling discount can help, too!

a) You can mail a check with your form to HASS, 20005 Lindenhurst Ct., Hagerstown, MD 21742, or you can mail the form and Venmo the registration fees to @HASS_SWIM. Envelopes should be post-marked by April 30, 2024 to count as “Early-Bird.”
b) You can bring your registration form and your questions to Wendy’s at Garland Groh Blvd on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 6-8pm! I will be there with blank forms or to collect your registration. Last day to get the Early-Bird Discount!
c) You can register in-person at the Boonsboro Library on Tuesday, May 7, from 4:30-6:30pm, or at the Williamsport Library on Thursday, May 9, from 5-7pm. We will have forms for you!
d) You can register at a practice, and your swimmer will be able to swim the next day.

3) NO PRICE INCREASE
Everything costs more right now…but not HASS Swim Team and Swim Lessons! We have decided NOT to raise prices on our registration fees this year. See our mission above! We are here to help YOUR family and your neighbors! We know that prices have increased on everything else, so we would like to keep swim team and swim lessons as affordable as possible!

Help us to spread the word, and we hope that you’ll join us at the many fun fundraisers that we have planned!

4) 2024 REGISTRATION – SWIM LESSONS
We will once again offer Red Cross certified swim lessons at several pools. The lesson fee structure has been simplified! The first, two-week session of lessons will cost $70 per swimmer. If that same swimmer takes a 2nd or 3rd two-week session, the cost will be discounted to $55 for extra session(s)!

The registration form is the same as the swim team registration form – Just circle “Lessons” at the top!

Session One: June 10 – June 20,
Session Two: June 24 – July 5,
Session Three: July 8 – July 19

We will be offering lessons in the morning at the following pools: Westfields, St. James Community, and Mt. Aetna (Session one, only). Exact times to be announced, but the lessons should be between 8AM and 11AM.

If you are ready to register, registration forms are attached to this email, AND you can find the forms on our website, hagerstownareasummerswimming.org, under the “Registration Forms” tab. Please make checks out to “HASS” and mail to April Parrott, 20005 Lindenhurst Ct., Hagerstown, MD 21742. You can also register in-person on April 30th, May 7, or May 9, as detailed above in the Swim Team Registration details.

5) TENTATIVE SCHEDULES
HASS Swim Team will begin on the morning of Friday, June 7th! Please don’t worry if you cannot make the first day. Regular practices begin Monday, June 10, 2024! If your family will be on vacation during that first week, just let us know and join in when you can! As before, we will have two morning teams and one evening team. Swim Meets will be at the Marty Snook Park Pool (Halfway), as in the past, between 8AM and 11:30AM Saturday mornings, beginning in late June.

We are negotiating with the different pools right now, and we are hopeful to have a draft practice and meet schedule very soon! As always, HASS exists to help your family, so you never have to attend any practice or meet that does not work for you, and you can always move around teams! We expect vacations, camps, and VBS to happen!

6) SAVE THE DATE – APRIL 30TH!
Wendy’s on Garland Groh Blvd has agreed to host a fundraiser for us on Tuesday, April 30th…all day!! (Both in-store and drive-through counts!) You can print or show on your phone the flyer attached to this email, mention HASS, and we will earn 20% of the profits! The fundraiser lasts all day – for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – and I will be in the dining room from 6-8pm to answer questions and to collect registrations on the last day for Early Bird Discount pricing! Bring the family out for a Baconator and a Frosty!!

7) SAVE THE DATE – JULY 15TH!
Chipotle Fundraiser, Garland Groh location, on Monday night, July 15, 2024, between 4pm and 8pm! We will pass out flyers once the season begins, but please mark it on your calendars to join in the fun and support HASS!

8) COACH-IN-TRAINING (CIT)
We are so thankful to have so many swimmers who want to help the coaches and the younger swimmers! If your swimmer is interested in becoming an official Coach-in-Training (CIT) for HASS, we will be asking them to submit an application at the beginning of the swim season (June) to their team coaches. More information on this soon!

9) TEAM PARENTS REQUESTED
Does your family enjoy HASS? Consider becoming a “Team Parent!” We are looking for 2-4 parents who would be designated as their Team Parents to assist the coaches with administrative items, to be a point of reference for new families to ask questions, and to handle distribution of ribbons and other gear. Thank you for your willingness to help!

10) NEW TEAM GEAR
Magnets and Shirts and SwimCaps, yes, please! We are hoping to have some new HASS gear for you to order, and soon! You can always reference our “Team Store” on swimoutlet.com/HASS. Stay tuned!
